Opportunities in Gentner Group
I am looking for graduate students and postdocs with a strong science or engineering background who are passionate about the environment to join my research team. Please contact me if you are interested in working on big questions in air quality and global change.
There are also opportunities for select undergraduate students from Yale or with external REU funding.
My research interests are focused on questions/issues at the nexus of air quality, climate change, energy use, and human health. This includes a variety of projects in science and engineering related to the dynamics of Earth’s atmosphere, understanding human perturbations to natural systems, and assessing the impacts on humans and the environment. I like to focus on larger questions and define my project objectives to address timely issues that impact society and the environment. My approaches use field measurements of pollutants in the atmosphere and in laboratory studies, this includes technological instrument design/development (i.e. analytical chemistry) to measure understudied components in the atmosphere. The data from these are analyzed using mathematical methods and modeling to better understand sources of air pollution and the chemical pathways involved; all to provide policy-relevant information that can improve human health and environmental quality.
